Right in the middle of a battered concrete sidewalk on Walnut Street, a fire hydrant lies sheared off and resting on its side like a forgotten industrial relic, surrounded by cracks in the pavement and street debris. The passerby is too engrossed in his cigarette to give it much notice though. He's seen this before.
