Goth, industrial, gay, fetish, indie... Man Ray was a lot of things to a whole lotta people. Nirvana even played there before they broke big! The low-slung, detail-free architecture and exterior belied the fact that there was a LOT happening inside these fortress walls. As with many of my prints, I seek to express the aura and spirit of my favorite old venues since, let's face facts, most of them weren't much to look at, right? It saddens me beyond belief when these clubs vanish, and when the actual buildings are torn down, it's even more heartbreaking. Through my prints I hope to recreate those idealizes spaces, if only in our minds (and walls)!
