Nightclub 9:30 Silk Screened Art Print - Double Fade
$41.25 Sold out
I’m a rascal... I snuck one last run of this design in before the holidays. I had an itch to scratch - a double fade design (purple to blue and pink to yellow). Mission accomplished! Limited to a mere TWELVE signed & numbered prints.
Remember creeping into the netherworld of downtown Washington DC in the 80s at night? You parked your car by the National Portrait Gallery and hoped it was still there after the show, usually paying some dude "protection money" to watch it for you. That was when the 9:30 was new and exciting... you accepted the sketchiness of the neighborhood as part of the thrill. I miss that location, like many of you do, and wanted to pay homage to 930 F Street. It was Punk Rock Ground Zero for me back in the day... probably for you as well!
My first show there was the Fleshtones... my last was Stereolab. In between, I was lucky enough to see stellar performances by the Slickee Boys, Butthole Surfers, Bad Brains, Superchunk, Cro-Mags, the Bolshoi, among countless others. What were some of your most memorable gigs?
My prints are taken from my original collage works. My method is silk screening, which is time consuming but also punk as hell. The small inconsistencies in the printing assure you that these weren't churned out on some ol' laser printer. The human factor is palpable and lovable.
Silkscreened by hand onto 110lb poster paper from the French Paper Company (the gold standard for poster papers!). No two exactly alike, but all are beautiful. Limited signed edition of 12 pieces. Paper size: 16" x 20", image size is 14" x 18". Fits standard frames found at your local craft store, frame shop or IKEA!
